The JFK Quote That Inspired a Generation

One of the most famous speeches in American history was delivered by President John F. Kennedy on September 12, 1962, at Rice University in Houston, Texas. In this speech, Kennedy announced his vision of sending a man to the moon by the end of the decade, and challenged the nation to pursue this ambitious goal.

The speech is best remembered for one of its most powerful lines: "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard."
